For an active holiday: walk or pick up a bike and explore the area via the Voie Verte - route via the path where trains used to run - making it not so hilly.

For the little adventurers, a climbing forest is a must (La forêt des écureuils, (laforetdesecureuils.fr). Animal lovers can have an adventure at Aquarium Perigord Noir in Le Bugue (aquariumpericordnoir.com).
Less than a 10-minute drive away, you'll find Zoological Reserve Calviac (reserve-calviac.org). This is a fun, small animal park where you can walk among the monkeys.
Gabarres de Dordogne
The rivers of the Dordogne have always been important transport routes. As in the days of merchant transport, gabares have made a comeback to take visitors on river adventures rich in historical and heritage discoveries.
Leaving from La Roque Gageac, enjoy an hour's ride along the river aboard one of these boats, a modern, safe replica of the barges used by our ancestors. During the tour, the drivers and guides will introduce you to the local history and customs that form the cultural identity of our river, its valley and the people who live there.
The beach at Groléjac
Less than 10 minutes away by car, you'll find the Base de loisirs du Roc Percé in Groléjac, a great place to discover during your holiday in our beautiful Périgord Noir region.
During the summer months, you'll love being able to relax, cool off and swim in the lake. Swimming is supervised by a lifeguard in July and August.
Those who simply want to relax can enjoy the fine sandy beach and picnic tables, while the more active can go pedal-boating or windsurfing...

Tree climbing and Via Ferrata
La Foret des Ecureuils is a tree-climbing course in Sarlat accessible to anyone over 1m20 tall. You'll find 5 click-it interactive lifeline courses with nearly 62 workshops, allowing each participant to progress at their own pace and according to their ability on different workshops of varying degrees of difficulty. A team will be on hand to keep an eye on you and provide advice and assistance.
A via ferrata (from the Latin meaning ‘railway track’) is a sporting itinerary set into a rock face, equipped with specific elements designed to facilitate progress and optimise the safety of those using it. There are 8 zip lines to discover for a 1 to 2 hour course, depending on your pace.
